Look to God to Meet Your Needs (Revelation 2:12-17)

Francis Blight, 18th April 2021
Part of the Seven Letters From Jesus Christ series, preached at a Fordham Sunday Service service

Attend in-person or watch online. Join us this Sunday as we return to our Study of Jesus’ seven letters to the churches in the book of Revelation. We will study the third letter to the church in the ancient Greek city of Pergamum, exploring it’s meaning for us today with the title Look to God to Meet Your Needs. Together, we will remember Jesus’ saving death for us in the Holy Communion. The bread and wine will be prepared and distributed in a covid safe way. We aren’t permitted to sing in the church building, but we can sing outside in the churchyard, so we will finish the service by heading outside to sing a hymn together. We look forward to seeing you. Bible Quote 2:12 "To the angel of the church in Pergamum write: These are the words of him who has the sharp, doubleedged sword.
2:13 I know where you live-where Satan has his throne. Yet you remain true to my name. You did not renounce your faith in me, even in the days of Antipas, my faithful witness, who was put to death in your city-where Satan lives.
2:14 Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: You have people there who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin by eating food sacrificed to idols and by committing sexual immorality.
2:15 Likewise you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans.

2:16 Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
2:17 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it.
