Victory In Europe 80th Anniversary Celebrations to Mark the End of World War Two.
Thursday 8th May 6.30pm VE Day Bellringing, Thanksgiving and Celebration
On VE Day, 80 years ago, churches across the nation sounded their bells to signify the end of the war. This year the bells will be rung at the All Saints Churches in Fordham & Eight Ash Green, along with churches and cathedrals across the UK, celebrating the 80th anniversary of the day when the guns fell silent across Europe.
Join us for the ringing of our churches’ bells, followed by a short service at Fordham Church. We will give thanks to God for the many who gave their lives for the freedom we enjoy today and we will pray for peace in our increasingly dangerous world.
Our celebrations will then continue at 7pm in the garden of the Three Horseshoes with a complimentary Gunner (non-alcoholic) or a glass of Prosecco. Come dressed for British weather! If you would like to, you are invited to make a donation to the charity Help for Heroes, through their websitehttps://www.helpforheroes.org.uk Please let the Church Office know at office@fordhamchurch.org.uk or text Mary Durlacher on 07887 506 822 if you are hoping to come as this will help our planning.
